Small but comfy

This hotel was the first one to let us check-in before check-in time which we’ve been really happy about. The reception was excellent and also really friendly. The room’s a little bit on the smaller side. Still, we were musing about why they gave away maybe 20cm in additional bed space for the gap between bed frame and table. If the bed had been wider it would have been a 10/10. Nonetheless, the room is really comfy, the area is calm and close to the train station and the castle. We also enjoyed the later breakfast time until 09:45 - usually it finishes before 09:00. Breakfast itself is ok but not too special.

Just about OK.

The staff were great - reception, kitchen and housekeeping. Washing machines were excellent. The location next to the station and on the main street suited us perfectly. Breakfast over the 5 days of our stay was variable but never bad and occasionally good. The exceptions were the awful coffee and the lack of fresh fruit juices. The Oriental members of our party were more satisfied than the Western which is only to be expected in a Japanese hotel but they still viewed the breakfast as slightly inferior to those we enjoyed elsewhere in Japan.

We had booked a single and a double room. The single was small but comfortable and well designed as is usual in Japan making good use of the limited space. The double was large but appallingly designed. This is the reason for my low rating of the hotel. There were no hooks for towels, pyjamas, or coats, very limited hanging space for clothes, no desk, and no comfortable chair. Instead there was wasted space. Having the wash basin the in the room seemed odd given the size of the bathroom and added to the untidiness created by the lack of storage. Overall in terms of value for money it was just about OK.

A very nice place to stay

The staff were very helpful, professional and so nice. The hotel was clean and had all the facilities needed. A very good stay altogether. We’ll keep Richmond Hotel in mind for our next stay.

The hotel is in close proximity to the train station, shops, not far away from the castle. The room was spacious!! The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating via email and in person. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Can't fault it as everything during our stay ran smoothly.

Nice hotel

Good location (a few minutes from the railway station on foot), nice and helpful staff. The hotel is a bit dated, and there was a bit of smell (as if the room was closed for some time), but both the room and the bathroom were clean.

Probably the best Richmond hotel I have stayed in in Japan.

Room was a good size, bed not too hard which seems to be an issue with some reviews. Breakfast is adequate.

Pillows can be a problem and the lack of fruit juice at breakfast (although the latter is a common thing with many hotels in Japan).

Clean, quiet & comfortable hotel in a great location with reasonable pricing

This is my second time staying here. It’s still a newish hotel with good sized rooms, soft beds and pillows and is only a 5-7 minute walk from the station. The price is very reasonable and there are various amenities available at reception.

Great location with a car park close to hotel.

Our second time staying here. Good location with a big car park next to the hotel. 800 yen for overnight parking. Buffet breakfast was good with enough variety. They don't always replenish the dishes on time or when it is close to the end but you can ask the staff to refill.

There was one counter staff who point blank said no to our request to make a booking for dinner. In all my years of travelling in Japan, this was the first time I hv encountered such behaviour. To be fair we don't know whether it is the hotel policy. Anyway, aside from this particular incident, the rest of the staff were friendly n helpful.

Excellent breakfast and service

Very convenient location. They have self check-in and checkout systems available, however we got there at night and the reception was still open to help with any questions we had. The amenities and facilities were great, and we especially liked the bathtub and the big sink. Amazing breakfast! It was a free buffet with both western and Japanese food choices. The staff was very friendly too.

Quite spacious room with a comfortable bed. Modern TV and friendly staff. For the price, would definitely recommend.

Do have to walk around 10 Minutes to get to the Station but not the end of the world.
